Tutor testimonials

See what some of our tutors have to say…

I have worked as a Science and Maths tutor (GCSE) for Progress Tutors for over 12 years. The Proprietor(Maria) carefully matches the tutor with the educational needs of a student and expects the tutor to deliver a high standard of service. She rewards hardworking, dedicated tutors by giving them work promptly. She is warm and respectful to tutors, students and clients.

Progress Tutors is excellent at finding me students whose needs are perfectly matched to my strengths. An added bonus is that Maria is always so supportive and approachable.

I have worked with Maria since September 2012 and since then I have enjoyed her work ethic and the opportunities and experiences of working as a Private Home Tutor. I have also worked on the Summer Revision Courses supporting students endeavouring to sit the 11+ exams. Anyone who works with Maria will appreciate the personal touch she puts into every project. I look forward to many more years of success ahead.

I began working for Maria about five years ago after being recommended by the parents of one of my students, who were friends of hers.  I have always found Maria friendly and easy to deal with, and also helpful on the odd occasions when I have had problems with a client.  She takes trouble to ensure that the students she refers to me are suitable, and as a fulltime tutor I know that I can count on her to fill any spaces I have.  I am sometimes asked by parents if I can recommend a tutor for another subject.  I am happy to be able to tell them to ring Maria, confident that she will arrange a suitable tutor.

Working for Progress is an enjoyable and rewarding experience. The pupils I have been given to teach have been delightful. Year after year, it has been refreshing and encouraging to see well motivated pupils I have taught achieve such good results. Working for Progress you soon see your hard work - and that of your tutees - pay off. The Easter revision courses are fun but hard work and the pupils there respond well to you. I feel thoroughly supported by Maria and am pleased to work for such a good boss.

I have worked for Maria at Progress Tutors for over 2 years now and have always found her to be charming, helpful and very supportive. I have taught on the GCSE Easter workshops and have done one-to-one tutoring.

I have worked for Progress Tutors over the last 3 years and have found them to be very supportive during this time. The process and logistics of contacting and serving clients has been greatly eased by the team at Progress which is very professional in its treatment of both tutors and their clients. I would like to highly recommend Progress Tutors to any potential clients and tutors.

I have been working for Progress Tutors for the last 10 years. Maria has been very helpful in guiding me when dealing with the parents. She establishes good relationships, bringing parents, tutors and children together in the fundamental process of education. It is a pleasure to work with her.

I have worked for four tutorial agencies over the past 15 years and Maria has been the only one to match, patiently and sensitively, a tutor's knowledge and skills to each pupil's educational needs. On rare occasions, when necessary, she will act with skill and diplomacy as an intermediary between tutors and parents. In this and all other matters she is exceptionally professional.

A former HoD Classics at Camden School for Girls and at Highbury Grove School in Islington, I have been teaching Classical Subjects since 1980 in both public and private schools in London, Kent, Surrey and Hertfordshire. I first started working for Progress about ten years ago, offering additional tuition in Latin to GCSE to a young lady in Orpington. The student concerned achieved her only A* at GCSE in Latin. Initially she decided not to continue into the Sixth Form, but soon found that she missed her study of Latin, which she had enjoyed immensely, went to college and passed three A-levels (including Latin), then to university and acquired a degree in Classics. None of this would have happened without Progress Tutors.
